Angelo RC, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization dedicated to the development and maintenance of public parklands for the specific purpose to further the avocation of Model Radio Controlled Aircraft.
Angelo RC is located in San Angelo State Park, San Angelo, Texas which is in West Central Texas and enjoys a year around flying season. We have over 70 members that cover every age and aspect of model aviation from small electric park flyers to turbine jets.
San Angelo is located approximately 90 miles South of Abilene , TX and is less than 3 1/2 hours from Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth and Lubbock.
We have two annual AMA sanctioned events:
The T.I.N.Y. is a three day indoor event will be held March 2nd, 3rd & 4th in 2012, in 2011 it drew 77 pilots, 267 planes and over 2500 spectators in this forth year of the event! It features a some fun contest like a balloon pop,limbo and last plane in the air and a Saturday evening formal contest showcasing some of the best pilots in the country! It also offers an enormous amount of open time for all flyers. This is held in the San Angelo Coliseum, which is an enormous venue!
The annual Fall Fun Fly held the last weekend in September draws 50+ pilots from over the State plus New Mexico and Oklahoma. It has been well attended for over 31 years, and is a “bring anything, fly anything event” held at Angelo RC Model Airfield at San Angelo State Park. We offer dry camping, concessions, a great raffle, and the best hospitality anywhere! Spaces will be available for vendors and a modler's swape meet.
Come to one of these events, and you will return every year!
